Just another friendly reminder…. 5 senior pictures need to be turned in to Mrs. Yackley by no later than April 1st. These do not necessarily need to be done by a professional photographer, but do need to be 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches in size.
For any students who do not turn in their pictures by April 1st we will print copies of the senior’s school picture that was taken in the fall to use for the newspaper announcements, class composite, and yearbook.
I still have a large number of students who have not turned in their pictures, so please remind your student to take care of this. Please contact Mrs. Yackley if you have any questions or concerns and thank you to those who have turned in their pictures already!
Attention Post Prom Participants! All students (and guests) attending Post Prom festivities at Air Madness will need to have an on-line waiver signed and submitted. At the board meeting last night, it was decided that the three days we have missed of school thus far (2 days for state volleyball and 1 snow day) will be made up by students and staff at the end of the year.
This means the last day for students will be Wednesday, May 25th.
On Tuesday, March 29th, the Elkton Chapter of the National Honor Society is hosting its annual blood drive. You can save a patient’s life with your blood donation. The need for donations is critical as there is a nationwide blood shortage due to a decline in donations during the pandemic. Blood donation continues to be safe and is vital for getting blood to local patients in need. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with a parent’s signature, and weigh at least 110 pounds. They must be in generally good health, and cannot have a cold, fever, etc. Valid I.D. must be provided at the time of donation. It is important for donors to be well hydrated and eat a full breakfast and lunch the day of the donation.
Last year, the 22 donors in the Elkton Blood Drive saved 66 lives. Throughout The Elkton’s partnership with the Community Blood Bank, 1,225 total donations have been made. To be part of this important event, call the Elkton School at 605-542-2541 or contact National Honor Society members Charlie Harming or Lane Thompson to schedule your appointment.

The screening will take 20 minutes. During this time, the Preschool teacher will do an informal assessment with the student while parents will have an opportunity to meet with the Kindergarten teachers and register their child for Kindergarten.
Please call the school, 605-542-2541, to make an appointment for your child's screening.
Students who are currently enrolled in the Elkton Preschool/Jr. Kindergarten class do not need to be screened.
Parents who live outside of the Elkton School District may apply for open-enrollment for their child when at the screening.
Congratulations to Mrs. Kelly Short, Elementary Special Education Teacher, she is our Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Short will be competing for Region Teacher of the Year. We thank Mrs. Short for all she does for our students and our school district.
Cory Greenwood visited Elkton Monday and shared his "Your Story Matters" message with 7th-12th graders. Cory's message focused on encouraging students to overcome obstacles, seek out mentors to "be their harness" in tough times, and to be willing to let go of the things that they hide behind to be their true selves. Thanks to Cory Greenwood for a powerful message for our students!
What a great family event for our school! Bingo, hot dogs, and the Cat in the Hat!
