The Family Back 2 School Project is a program for families with students attending school in Brookings County in grades JK-12. This program provides families in need with FREE school supplies for next school year. Families wishing to participate need to register for the program before July 28th. This is a FREE 4-day summer camp. Food and lodging provided. Students stay 3 nights on campus in college dorms. This camp is aimed at creating a fun and stimulating experience for current high school students in using computers to analyze data. You will learn some basic statistics and math topics. Have fun visualizing data and developing apps. Engage in fun activities, such as analyzing the number of chocolate chips on cookies. Learn how to write computer programs through examples. Led by SDSU professors and graduate students, you will work in a computer lab at SDSU. Spaces are limited.

The Elkton FFA and FCCLA chapters would like to invite you to our awards night. It will be held in the lunchroom on Monday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm.
Due to delivery issues, the menu for Monday, April 25th has changed.
Lunch on that day will be hamburgers, corn and pears.
School will dismiss on that last day (May 25th) at 1:30pm. This early dismissal best aligns with transportation provided by the Lake Benton School on that day. It also allows staff the time to complete their end of the year tasks.
Track meet at Deuel on Thursday April 21st.
Field events start at 2:00pm and running events start at 3:00pm.
On Thursday, April 14th the Elkton Fire & Ambulance Departments conducted a training exercise. The school district was approached by Arend Schuurman about using the school. The training simulated a fire in the Industrial Arts room along with the search and rescue of two students. The school district was able to show members of both departments where certain items of interest are located throughout the building including how and where to the read the alarm system. We want to thank the members of Elkton Fire & Ambulance Departments for all they do to protect our community.
The Kiwanis Relays scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) are canceled.
Deuel is checking to see if enough teams will come to a meet on Thursday.

Please note, the school board had to amend the 2022-2023 school calendar. January 2nd will now be a NO school day. As a result, one day was added to the end of calendar. The last day of school will now be May 17th. The new calendar is available on the school website.
ORR held a golf meet at the Madison Country Club on April 12th. The Elks had five varsity boys, two junior high girls, and six junior high boys playing. Each golfer played 9 holes today. The varsity played the back nine and the junior high played the front nine.

Today's (Tuesday April 12th) HS Track Meet in Volga is cancelled due to cold weather/forecasted conditions.
Due to a frigid weather forecast and high winds, the De Smet Invitational Track Meet on Thursday, April 14th has been CANCELLED.
