What a fantastic start to our season! We took second place (out of 6 teams) yesterday at DRSM! We could not be more proud of the two performances we put on the floor. “The work is worth it” and we are definitely not done putting in the work! 💪🏼 Our next competition is Tuesday (Sept. 6th) at Dell Rapids Public. See you there! 💙 #TogetherWeRise

The year is off to a great start! During the summer we make plans for the upcoming year hoping that once students arrived the procedures, we have in place will work. We have noticed the need for additional help with our recesses for our students. We have implemented various supports to help ensure we are providing our students with the safest recess possible. I am looking to see if there are parents or community members who would be interested in volunteering for a short period of time each week to aid in playground supervision. Volunteers would be responsible for ensuring that the school's health and safety rules are followed, for interacting with students and encouraging appropriate play and for managing student behavior, working with teachers and administration where appropriate. We are looking for help at the following times: 10:40am-11:05am (Kindergarten/1st grade) and 11:55am-12:20pm (2nd/3rd grade). You need not volunteer for all days of the school week or both times. We do ask that anyone looking to volunteer please follow our volunteer policy listed below. Guidelines for Volunteers: • Volunteers are required to check in and out at the main office. • Please be courteous and follow the rules and regulations of the school. • Please set up a predetermined block of time with the school for volunteering. If you are unable to attend your scheduled time, please let the school know. • Please stay home if you are sick. • Do not bring siblings to school when you are volunteering. • Do not take videos or photographs of students. • Any communication with, or information about, individual students (including their performance or actions) must be kept strictly confidential. • Teachers are responsible for discipline. If you would be interested in helping during this time, please contact me via Dojo messenger or at kelly.neill@k12.sd.us. Thank you for your help! Parent and community support is vital to making our school a great place!

The bell rang on Wednesday, August 17th for the start of the school year. Students and teachers were eager to get to know one another, share what they did over the summer, and set goals for the upcoming year. We are thankful to our staff for having our building and grounds looking great on day one. A big thank you to our teachers for learning more about their craft during the summer and for creating such welcoming spaces for our students. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter, as well as the school webpage (www.elkton.k12.sd.us ) to stay up to date on all the great things happening at Elkton Public Schools!

It was great to see everyone last night. Just a few reminders about elemtnary drop-off and pick-up during the school year: All doors are locked until 8am. Students will be able to be dropped off in the mornings at either A2 or B2. We ask that guests bringing students to school and picking students up at the end of the day do not enter the building. At the end of the day, all students will be picked up at B2. This is the safest procedure for our students and ensures that staff is with all students during dismissal time. Elementary students will NOT use A2 or A3 during dismissal time. Students who are being picked up by a sibling in grades 7-12 will wait in the main hallway until the bell rings and they are picked up by their sibling. We are keeping an eye on the construction by the alley. We will update parents if there are any changes to this procedure due to road construction.
