Want to help save a life? On Monday, March 16th, the Elkton Chapter of the National Honor Society is hosting its annual blood drive at the Elkton School. The need for donations is critical and continues to be safe and vital for getting blood to local patients in need. To be part of this important event, call the Elkton School at 605-542-2541 or contact National Honor Society members Colt Beck, Taiton Boersma, Ashya Flores Ellefsen, Payton Kuehl, Jocelyn Prosch, Lane Schindler, or Charlie Thooft to schedule your appointment.

Join us in celebrating Elkton-Lake Benton senior Charlie Thooft, who yesterday signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Minnesota West Community College! She will join a Lady Jays program that won a National Championship in 2023-24 and has appeared in 11 of the last 17 Region XIII championship games. Charlie is a fantastic role model for what hard work and dedication on the court and in the classroom can lead to. Congratulations and good luck, Charlie!

Mrs. Delaney's first-grade scientists used their observation skills to record properties of a rock. They observed the size, weight, shape, texture, and color of their rock with partners. We learned about proper handling of our science tools needed to complete this investigation, such as, tape measures, scales, and magnifying glasses.

Some visuals from yesterday's competition in Watertown! The high school band members prepare music from January-February for the region's solo & ensemble contest. They choose to work as either a solo or a group (or both!) and have class time to prepare this music together. This is done mostly on their own with guidance from their director.

Another BIG congratulations to our students who earned Superior Ratings at yesterday's Region 3 Ensemble and Solo Competition in Watertown!
5 groups/solos made up of 19 students received a superior rating from their judges (pictured with their pins) with one of those students, Josclynn Schomp, receiving a PERFECT score on her solo!
We are proud of our musicians and the work they put into this music! Next, they will begin working on their Region Large Group Contest music.

Congratulations to Elkton HS students, Bryn Bevers and Becca Armstrong, who were selected to play at the SDUS Honor Band Festival this weekend!
The Honor Band Festival is a tremendous opportunity for student musicians to rehearse and perform in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center at SDSU, work with nationally and internationally renowned guest artists and clinicians, and have a great time sitting alongside some of the most talented high school musicians in the upper Midwest.
The director first nominates the students and then they put together an audition comprised of scales and a short solo excerpt which is recorded and sent in for judges. This year, Elkton had 4 students nominated and auditioned and two students were selected to participate on bass clarinet.
Awesome job, Bryn & Becca!
