Wonder what elementary teachers do before school? One day each month, every elementary grade level meets for our grade-alike team meetings. Classroom teachers, special education staff, Title teachers, interventionists, our EL teacher, school counselor, and principal come together before the school day begins to collaborate and plan. During this time, teachers share strategies, align instruction, and review student progress to better support every learner. These meetings strengthen teamwork, build a positive school culture, and help ensure we are continuously growing to provide the best possible learning experience for all students.
It's Elks Gameday! Elkton-Lake Benton will host the Canton C-Hawks tonight in a Boys/Girls basketball doubleheader. The C and JV Boys games will take place in the South Gym @ 4:00 and 5:00. In the North Gym, JV Girls will begin at 4:30 and will be followed by Varsity Girls at 6:15 and Varsity Boys at 7:30. Due to the forecasted extreme windchill overnight and into tomorrow morning, the Elkton School District will begin two hours late on Monday, January 19th. Classes will begin at 10:30AM, there will be no morning preschool, and breakfast will not be served. Please travel safely.

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our Fall Fine Arts programs and athletic teams who earned the Academic Achievement Award from the SDHSAA! To qualify, a varsity team or group must obtain a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher - and the Elks crushed it. Way to work hard in your extracurricular activities AND in the classroom. We're proud of the student-athletes, advisors, coaches, and teachers!

INFORMATION FOR SATURDAY'S DVC CLASSIC: On Saturday our boys will participate in the DVC Classic. The boys play at 3pm in White. All games for the Classic will be on Big Sioux Media, but because this is a conference classic, there will be a subscription required to watch the games. To watch the games, please follow the link below. The subscription is $10 to watch all of the day's games. You will need to use a desktop or laptop to sign in, the subscription model does not work with mobile devices. https://bigsiouxmedia.com/2026-dakota-valley-conference-classic/ Everyone is encouraged to purchase right away so that if you have issues, they can be rectified by Saturday. The Elks visit the Cardinals tonight in a DVC showdown at St. Mary High School. There will be a full slate of games, with 7th grade beginning at 3:00, followed by 8th grade at 4:00, C at 5:00, JV at 6:15, and the Varsity matchup will cap the evening with a 7:30 tip-off. Good luck Elks!
